In the role of Sr. UNIX Engineer, you will be responsible to provide 24x7 UNIX support in a

heterogeneous server (Sun, HP, IBM) environment. Environment consists of backup application;

Veritas Netbackup and TSM, DNS and DHC servers, Keon, Instrumentation, SAN/Storage servers.

Individual must work closely with different LOBs to bring resolution to all issues and perform

proactive duties such as patch management and software upgrades. Must be able to work

independently as well as with a group. Perform duties following all standards regarding,

engagement, change management and escalations. Required to escalate to vendors and provide root

cause analysis and incident reports. Provide timely resolution to break/fix issues.

Schedule: Wed-Sat 9-7, with Oncall duties as needed
Bachelor of Science degree or higher required
Advanced knowledge of Solaris 8, 9 & 10
Advanced Knowledge of AIX 5.x and 6.x needed
Advanced Knowledge of Redhat Linux
Understanding of security best practices for multi-tiered operating systems
Advanced scripting abilities a must in at least the following languages: Shell, Perl
Minimum of 10 years experience of working with Unix and Linux Servers in a production

environment.
Understanding of backup process, system monitoring, performance tuning disaster recovery, and

scripting for Solaris and/or Linux based OS.
Ability to adapt to a dynamic work environment
Effective written and verbal communication skills
Ability to develop strong client relationships
Familiarity with monitoring tools such as Tivoli and SunMC
Ability to write shell scripts
Knowledge of Open SSH
Ability to work under pressure
Knowledge of MS Suite a plus
Knowledge of Sun F15 and E25K platforms and SMS a plus
Knowledge of SAN Technologies a Plus
Knowledge of Opsware a plus
