Job Description - Role Overview

This position is responsible for developing and implementing software builds for our development, testing and production environments. The Build master collaborates with Development, Testing and Infrastructure teams to promote changes through development and testing iterations through production implementation. The Build master drives and delivers automated build solutions as well as coordinating branch management with all applicable phases of the SDLC.

Our objective is to establish continuous integration best practices in putting together Daily or Frequent Builds, and significantly reduce the time it takes to build the entire system. All components of the solution need to be part of the build process and the code will be pulled from ClearCase/SVN directly.

Core Skills

• Clearcase, ANT, SVN, PVCS, Cruisecontrol/IBM BuildForge, UNIX, an understanding of Java is preferred

Key Responsibilities

• Building and deploying software releases
• Create, maintain and manage software deployment automation
• Software continuous integration and build automation
• Administering and maintaining version control, version control software, code repository and backup files
• Supporting and executing 3rd party software/product updates and integration in build process
• Work with Quality Assurance team to introduce test automation into the build and deploy routines, facilitate testing, and coordinate release activities.
• Identifying, troubleshooting, and resolving problems with the build process and ensures the release has been accepted by all parties
• Establish communication channel to communicate successful release to targeted groups
• Analyzing and recommending corrective action and/or resolving build and release failures
• Continually seeking methods to enhance and improve upon current Build processes
• Flexible work hours are required


Experience and Qualifications

Expert Knowledge in Areas
• Extensive knowledge (3-5 years) in being able to build large enterprise grade application architectures with diverse IBM and J2EE technology stacks
• Expertise in ANT
• Expertise in using Clearcase as the source code repository with proficiency in SVN/PVCS
• Expertise with continuous integration toolsets like CruiseControl, IBM BuildForge
• Good knowledge of agile SDLC, software configuration management practices, release management methodologies and production deployment.

Working Knowledge in Areas
• Unix Shell scripting
• Websphere configuration
